W and C

During the week of October 8, our school days began the usual way with circle time, French lesson, penny whistle lesson and different enrichment activities.  Right now, Johanna practices tying shoelaces on Monday, jump ropes on Tuesday, tosses bean bags on Wednesday, and we do some zoo-robics (this is basically crawling around like different kinds of animals) on Thursdays. On the penny whistle, Johanna is staying on one note, and learning beat and rhythm.

The gnome story for Julia this week was about the dragon, Hobart, and Super Sam making a trip to the orchard to pick apples with the other gnomes. Johanna learned the letters W and C, and she continued to practice writing all the letters she had learned so far.

On Monday, I introduced Johanna to the letter W, and told her the fairytale, The Fisherman and His Wife

After I finished the story, Johanna and I drew a picture in our main lesson books.

I also introduced the form drawing for the week.

On Tuesday, Johanna re-told me The Fisherman and his Wife, and I wrote a summary in her lesson book.

On Wednesday, I introduced Johanna to the letter C, and told her the fairy tale, The Cat and Mouse in Partnership.

After I finished telling her the story, we drew pictures in our lesson books.

On Thursday, Johanna re-told me the story, and I wrote a summary in her lesson book.

We practiced the form drawing throughout the week in various ways, but this one is very challenging for Johanna, so we will keep practicing it for another week.

Johanna is having a lot of fun learning her letters, and is now recognizing them when she sees them showing up in different places. Two new letters coming next week....
