He also had fun writing the sign for addition in flour with his finger, elbow, nose and foot.
Just a funny side note, later in the evening, Johanna and Julia were playing with some of our wooden cars and people, and I overheard Johanna ask Julia if her car was taking the people to homeschool. She wouldn't know any different!
On Tuesday, we reviewed division. Grant had to evenly divide up nuts between hungry squirrels. I would change the number of squirrels, and he would have to divided them up differently. After that we wrote out the equations in his lesson book. He also started copying a May Day verse. Once he was done with his copy work, we went outside and Grant and Johanna painted our May Pole.
We had a rough start on Wednesday. Our German Shepard, Odin, had diarrhea in his crate on Tuesday night, so Mom had a fantastic morning of clean up. I won't give you all the details, but it took me awhile, and I must admit, it put me in a pretty bad mood. Doing all of this took up our walk time and part of our school time. When I was done with the clean-up, we headed into the school room where we used snack time and Grant's crackers to review substraction. It was very easy to come up with a story about a hungry boy who was taking away crackers by eating them! Grant also finished copying his May Day verse before we headed outside to play.
On Thursday, we reviewed multiplication and then drew maypole pictures in our lesson books. After that we headed outside to set up our Maypole. It just so happened to be a very windy day, so our ribbons were flying everywhere. I wanted to leave the pole up for a few days, but we were afraid it would blow over so we took it down. The kids had a lot of fun, so I told them we would put it back up sometime when it wasn't so windy.
