After I read the book, we went up to the kitchen and made some peppermint hot chocolate. The girl's favorite part was smashing the candy canes (in a ziploc bag) with a hammer before mixing it into their hot chocolate.
We also decorated the gingerbread house. This year I found a pre-made house at Whole Foods, and then we decorated it with frosting and candy. The kids always enjoy doing this, as more than a few pieces of candy always seem to find their way into those little mouths....
