He also had his chair decorated, used the special birthday plate and mug, and had the candles on the birthday ring lit at every meal.
For breakfast, he requested waffles. FYI: warm waffles will soften the wax of birthday candles and they will start to lean and fall over. Just letting you know...
We enjoyed breakfast with Iowa Grandma and Grandpa, who were in town for Grant's birthday party. After breakfast, Grandma and Grandpa headed back to Cedar Rapids, and Grant got to enjoy the morning playing with his new toys. Because of his birthday, and our guests, we didn't have school on Monday. Grant did enjoy his requested meals for the rest of the day- cheeseburgers for lunch and pancakes for dinner. He also requested a cheesecake, so I whipped him up a quick no-bake one.
On Tuesday, we headed back into the school room and we practiced spelling, reviewed math, read, and did our French lesson. Grant and I also did his piano lesson. I read the kids this book:
After I was finished reading the book, the kids and I put together this Easter scene that I saw on pinterest.
On Wednesday, we went through our regular pre-main lesson routine, and then the kids did a "resurrection eggs" hunt. Afterward, I read the book to go with it.
Johanna also drew this picture of Jesus on the cross:
On Thursday, we had fun dyeing eggs.
Grant did these eggs:

On Friday, we made hot cross buns, and welcomed two more out of town guests from Iowa for the weekend - Uncle Brad and Cousin Brendan.
