Valentine's Fun

The week of February 11th was spent on reviewing letters and numbers and preparing for the most loving day of the year... Valentine's Day!  Most of the week was taken up with Valentine's card making, and getting ready for Valentine's parties.  Grant had one with his class at school, and the girls had a party with the local homeschooling group.  It takes a lot of time to get all those Valentine's cards and boxes ready!

On Monday, Johanna and I reviewed the numbers we talked about the previous week using some number stones I made for Grant when he was in first grade.  With these she matched up the Arabic numbers with the Roman Numerals.

She also practiced writing out the numbers on her chalkboard.

The girls also started making their Valentine's cards for family.

I did read the girls a few Valentine's books throughout the week, and on Valentine's Day the kids woke up to find all kinds of goodies waiting for them, along with a day filled with heart shaped food.  Grant was off school that day, so he joined us in the school room to make heart sun catchers.

Next week, Johanna will be back to learning letters as we begin talking about the vowels.
