Today we drove up to Clarksville, Missouri to watch bald eagles on the river. First, we listened to a presentation about eagles done by the Wild Bird Sanctuary, and got to see two eagles up close. Then we drove to the river's edge to watch them. The kids were quickly bored, but Cory and I enjoyed watching them. We saw at least 30 eagles either flying and diving for fish, or sitting in the trees on the river bank. After that we had a yummy lunch at a local restaurant (awesome Reuben). After lunch, we drove to the local conservation reserve and were able to use our binoculars to see two eagle nests. They were much larger than the ones we see around our house! They can get up to 10 feet across. The largest one ever found could fit a VW bug inside.
