Naughty Chair
So, I'm not sure what this little lady did, but I overheard Julia putting her in the naughty chair. I just had to take a picture of the cat, and of Julia in those sweet glasses.
Surprise!
We managed to pull off two surprise events for Cory's 40th Birthday. First, I surprised him, with a lot of help from his brother Andy, with a baseball game on a Friday night with the added surprise of friends and family attending the game with us. Then we were able to surprise him with a party on the following night. He really enjoyed the baseball game, the party, seeing all his friends and family, and the best carrot cake ever for his Birthday cake.
Surprise!
Margarita's anyone?
Don't worry, Johanna. He won't bite!
Guinness anyone?
Singing "Happy Birthday" along with fireworks.
I wonder if she'll let me have any of that chocolate cupcake.....
Oh no, it wasn't me eating that chocolate cupcake.

My 8 Jobs
Grant told me tonight that he was going to have 8 jobs when he grew up. I asked him what they were going to be, and this is what he told me:
"First, I am going to be a miner so I can get a crystal and then I will sell that and buy a sky scraper, then I will be Governor, no not Governor, I just want to be able to look out over the whole city. After that I will buy a job at Lego's and work on humongous Lego ships. I can bring home free Lego pieces to my kids." I said, okay Grant, but that's only 3. What are the other 5? He said, "explorer and detective." He sat there thinking and I suggested chiropractor. He said no because he doesn't want to go to college. So, the next one he said was carpenter. After that he asked me how many that was, and I said that was 6 so he had 2 more to go. He thought about it for a couple seconds and said, "I think 6 will be enough." I agreed with him and said he would be one busy guy!

Blackberry Picker
This is what Julia looked like after helping me pick blackberries the other day.
I think she was eating them as fast as I was putting them in the bucket!

Art Camp
A few weeks ago, Grant attended a Fine Arts Camp for Warrenton County students. Throughout the week they made art projects, learned a dance routine, a short drama skit, and some songs. Grant said he enjoyed the camp, but didn't enjoy the performance part of it. At the the end of the week they had an assembly so the kids could show off what they did all week. The kids were divided by age, and each group had a skit and various songs they performed. Grant said he was very nervous to be in front of all the people. Not to mention that he said all the songs they learned were "girl songs".
The skit they performed was called, "What Shoes Do You Choose?". All the kids had to bring an old pair of shoes they could decorate. Grant had "walk on the wall" shoes. He was hoping to attach suction cups to the bottom of them and actually do some walking on the walls, but he had to settle for plastic milk jug caps. In the end, the girl who was choosing the shoes decided to take all the shoes.
In the above pre-performance photo, the boy on the right of Grant was on his baseball team, and Grant said he really liked the boy on his left and hung out with him most of the time (I forget his name).
Julia getting in on the action
Doesn't he look excited to be there?

The girl on the left, who had the lead role and who happens to really like Grant (wink, wink), and the two girls to the right of Grant, are all home schooled and were in our home school group this past semester. All and all, it was pretty funny to watch as Grant looked like he would rather be anywhere else but there. Later on when he watched himself on the tape he said it made him nervous to watch it. Especially since he had to sing all girl songs (he,he).
Please get me outta here!
