Summer Fun List for 2013

This is our summer fun list for this year.

Summer seems so short with the kids starting school on August 14th, but we will see how many we can get through!

Cardinal's Game

Cory, Grant, Uncle Andy, and I had a chance to get away to a Cardinal's game on May 30th.  It was an interesting night of weather, and we were even under a tornado warning for a while.  We made it through to the 8th inning with just a little rain.  We made it to our car just before it started to pour.  Turns out the game was delayed and they finished at 3:00 AM!  Even worse, the Cards lost to the Royal's.  Boo!

Woo.... Dark and scary clouds...

Bat Girls

The girls decided they wanted to dress up like bats.  Johanna in her Halloween bat costume, and Julia in a bat mask and Batman cape.

Well, one day wasn't enough for Julia.  She requested to wear her bat pj's to bed, and then she came down the following morning wearing the mask and cape again.  She proceeded to draw a bat picture (along with Boji's help).

All in a day's work for a super hero!

A Day at the Zoo

On Friday, May 24, The kids and I enjoyed a day at the zoo with Aunt Jill and Cousin Abby.

At Stingray Cove, we had the chance to pet sharks and stingrays.

The penguin exhibit is always a favorite!

For the carousel ride, Grant found a penguin, Johanna found a gorilla, and Julia rode a tiger.   I didn't get a good picture of Julia, but I did point out her head in the picture below.  I also didn't get a good picture of Abby, you will have to use your imagination and picture her riding a cute little green caterpillar.

The kids enjoyed some time in the petting zoo.

Julia is giving Abby instructions on how not to be afraid of the goat, and on  proper petting technique.

It worked! She's a pro!

Look at those cute little sea lions!

 Hippos!

The kids got up close and personal with a chimp.

Check out the reflection of Grant's"chimp" face in the window. Nice!

We really enjoyed the sea lion show.  They have some seriously talented Sea Lions!

We finished up the day with a train ride around the zoo.

Award's Night 2013

On the evening of May 23rd, Grant's school hosted their Award's Night. Being as this was our first award's night, we didn't know if we needed to go, or what award's Grant might be getting.  Turns out he walked away with four medals that evening. He received a medal for attendance, dress code, Bible Scholar (which meant he memorized his weekly Bible verses), and honor roll.  Yay Grant!
