Cats, Cats Everywhere

We took the cats in for a check-up, and Lucia weighed in at a whopping 2 pounds, Loki was 3 pounds, and Big Boji was 14 pounds.  He weighs about the same as our little dog, Mia.  I think he could take her easy....
Here are some fun shots of them during their first week here.

A Birthday Celebration

On Saturday, July 10, we had a party celebrating Johanna's 4th birthday and Julia's 2nd birthday.

Here the girls are waiting for the first guests to arrive.

Everyone received a lei, and the girls were given a grass skirt to wear to go with our tiki/luau theme.  As the kids were arriving, they worked on a simple craft of necklace making (for the girls) or coloring a wooden frame (for the boys).

After the craft, everyone ate and then had cake.  I made a dense, yummy chocolate cake topped with whipped cream for Johanna, and an equally yummy coconut tres leche cake for Julia (you know, trying to keep with the tropical theme).

After cake, the girls opened their presents.  They received lots of wonderful, thoughtful gifts.

Whee...

After the girls opened presents, the guests were free to go fishing or just hang out.

Happy Birthday to our little Webb Princesses.

New Family Members

Three kids, three dogs, and now......three cats!

It had been long enough without a cat in the Webb household.  We wanted to adopt two kittens that were litter mates.  We went to the rescue shelter and decided on these two:

Lucia

We named this little lady Lucia.  She seems to be very cautious and reserved.  As of right now, she is the opposite of her brother, Loki.

Loki

This little guy seems to be living up to his name for the Norse God of "hokey pokey."  He is very curious, playful, and not scared of anything. He was the first to escape the office (where we were keeping them all temporarily) and meet our dog Mia.

While I was very happy to be taking home these two cuties, my heart ached for all of the older cats that don't find homes as easily.  The lady at the rescue center and I were able to talk Cory into cat number three, Boji(Short for Okoboji, Iowa). As she said, "What's three cats when you already have two, right?"

Boji

Boji is very friendly and loves to be around people.  He purs whenever someone comes close.  He still isn't quite sure about all the ruckus the kids make, so he tends to hide out when all three kids are up and being loud. He has been very cautiously exploring the house(while purring), and trying to jump into any little nook and cranny he can find. None of them seem to be too bothered by Mia.  I think she is just trying to figure out what to do with all of them.  Boji and Lucia keep there distance, but Loki isn't afraid to go right up to her and say hi, and try to play with her.  Everyone is still getting adjusted to their new surroundings, and each other.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everyone keeps using the litter boxes, and keeps sharpening those claws on the scratching posts, not the furniture.

I know.  We're crazy, right?

Johanna's 4th Birthday

Grant and Johanna were up bright and early, as they always are on a Birthday, filled with anticipation of what the day will bring. The day always starts with a trail of gold and silver stars which lead to the presents that are waiting to be opened.

We were also fortunate enough to have Grandma and Grandpa Webb in town to celebrate the special day with us.  They made the adorable dolls in the above photo.

The kids played with the presents while I made Johanna's special birthday breakfast of juice, oatmeal pancakes and bacon.

The kids enjoyed playing throughout the morning until it was time for a special birthday lunch of BBQ chicken pizza (a favorite of all the kids), followed by a birthday dessert of Dutch Letter Bars which were made for Grandma Darlene in honor of her upcoming Birthday on July 15th.

The day continued with another favorite of mac and cheese for dinner.

Another treat for Johanna was sleeping in Grant's room while Grandma and Grandpa are staying in her room.  Grant decided he had to be down on the floor with Johanna, so that is where they slept among a pile of blankies.

Happy 4th Birthday, Princess.
