Grant's Seventh Birthday Party

Grant had a great Birthday party!

Makenna arrived half asleep, but it wasn't long before she was playing with the other kids.

Johanna "hanging out" with Jeff and Crissy.

As the kids were starting to arrive, they decorated plate "spaceships".

Once they were done with that, we ate.  Thank you Grandma for making the "space" sandwiche".

Julia really enjoyed her first drink out of a juice box.

After everyone was done eating, I took the kids downstairs for a "mission".

We used white drop cloths and black tablecloths spray painted with flourescent spray paint, glow in the dark stars, and black lights to turn our basement into outerspace.  It turned out really well.  Cory and I had hid moon rocks (bouncy balls) and little tubs of planetary goo.  The kid's mission was to use their glo sticks that I handed out to them earlier to find these items that the aliens had stolen from the astronauts. The kids had a lot of fun on their mission.

After the mission we all came back upstairs for cake and ice cream. Cory and I were impressed that with all the kids, juice boxes, food, cake and ice cream running around that we only had a few spots of blue frosting smashed into the carpet by the table.

After their fill of cake and ice cream, the kids went outside to hit the pinata.  It was filled with little stuffed aliens, alien poppers and candies.  After a few hits, Grant gave it a good whack and knocked it of the rope, so they gave it a few more good hits on the ground before finally ripping it apart.

After they had collected all the goodies, everyone went into the front yard so the kids could fly their spaceships they made earlier and see whose could fly the farthest.  They didn't really fly, more like blew.  It was really windy that day and a little overcast, but that didn't keep any of the kids from having fun.

Johanna and Makenna had fun sitting in the breeze.

Finally, we went back inside and Grant opened his presents.

Apparently, Makenna likes to express her affection with neck tickles, or is it a chokehold?

Here is Sheri and Julia playing with some planetary goo.

Grant said his favorite part of his party was hitting the pinata.  What is it with boys and destruction?
