A Princess Party

On Saturday, July 9, we celebrated Johanna and Julia's birthdays with a "princess party."  Johanna requested a princess party this year, and Julia was happy to go along with it. I decked the house out with princess decorations, and made lots of yummy food, including a chocolate cake for Johanna and Julia, and also some vanilla cupcakes.

When the girl guests arrived, which for this party happened to be just one other girl besides Johanna and Julia who was of the right age (two girls were too little, and one girl was too old), we helped them dress up in pretty princess dresses and they were further "princess-ified" with make-up, jewelry, wands, and glitter. They also got to decorate a crown.

It took her awhile to get into the princess mood.

She wasn't in the mood for pictures, either...

After that every one ate, and then the girls opened their presents. There was a bit of pandemonium as they were both opening gifts at the same time, while I was trying to take pictures, and Cory, followed by my sister, were doing their best to keep track of who was giving who what.

After the gifts were opened, we had cake and ice cream. Julia blew out candles on one of the vanilla cupcakes, but she opted to eat a piece of chocolate cake. (and chocolate ice cream)

I had some other activities planned, but the kids were just having fun playing with each other, so we left it at that. We had a beautiful princess party. (Even the boys had fun.)
