Our Princess Turns Five

Our little princess turned 5 years old on July 8th.

It is very hard to believe that it has been 5 years already!  It seems as though I can see her changing everyday when I look at her precious face and beautiful blue eyes.

On the morning of her birthday, she once again followed the gold stars to find her presents waiting for her.  She eagerly began to open them with Grant more than happy to help, and her cousin Brendan (who was visiting for the weekend) looking on.

Grant picked out, and put together, this jewelry box for her, and as you can see from her expression, Johanna thought is was great.

After all the presents were opened, I made Johanna's requested breakfast of almond butter coconut flour muffins. (aka: Monster Muffins, because of the funny looking cracks they get on the tops after baking.) We lit a birthday candle, and sang happy birthday before we ate.

I also made Johanna her requested lunch of mac and cheese, and for dinner she wanted waffles with scrambled eggs. (Grant helped her pick that one out.) We had a special after-dinner-birthday-dessert of chocolate chip cookie bars with vanilla ice cream. With a candle and another round of "Happy Birthday", of course.
