A and E

On the week of February 18th, Johanna continued learning the letters as we talked about A and E.  We continued to do penny whistle, French lesson, circle time, and math review at the start of the day.  Her favorite activity right now is jumping rope.  She's pretty good at it, too!

On Monday, I introduced Johanna to the letter A.

In Waldorf, the vowels are introduced as "angel sounds", so first we talked about Angel A and the sounds that A makes.  I read Johanna a story about the Vowel Angels, and then I read her a short story from the LMNOP Manual called, The Star.  After I was done reading the story, Johanna and I drew pictures in our main lesson books.

I also gave the girls the following "A Animal" coloring page.  The one below is Johanna's A.

On Tuesday, Johanna re-told the story, and I wrote the summary in her lesson book.  We also reviewed A, and then the girls made aliens out of the letter A.

On Wednesday, I introduced Johanna to the letter E.

We practiced the sounds for the letter E, and Johanna also practiced writing E.  Afterward, I told her the Grimm's fairytale, The Golden Key, then we drew pictures in our lesson books.

Julia drew one, too.

On Thursday, Johanna re-told me the story and I wrote a summary in her lesson book.

Afterward, the girls made "Elephant E's".
