St. Patrick's Day

We had a fun St. Patrick's Day.  The girls were ready in the morning with their pinchers for those of us who didn't have our green on yet (they got dressed right away, of course). For breakfast we had oatmeal with green milk and green sprinkles.  Later on in the day I made this shamrock smoothie (I used a few pieces of fresh spinach to make it more green, rather than food colouring). As you can see, everyone really liked them.

I also made this fruit rainbow as part of lunch.
Johanna ate hers in the order of the colors form blue up to red.

Before dinner we had the event the kids had been waiting for all day.  The treasure hunt! I got the printables for the clues here: St. Patrick's Day Treasure Hunt.  The hunt started inside, but ended up outside where they found the pot filled with bags of "gold" (gold chocolate coins, Hershey's nuggets and mini Reese's peanut butter cups).

We finished off the day with a dinner of corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and Irish soda bread.  We had this green avocado pie for dessert.  It was really good, and really easy to make. It tasted like a creamy lemon pie.  We all agreed that lime juice would be tasty, too - and go better with the green color.
