The First Snow

Today we had our first snow!

The kids were very excited.  Grant woke up at the crack of dawn carrying his new sled from Grandpa Hedberg into our bedroom, ready to go.  Johanna woke up, looked out the window, and said, "yummies".  All she wanted to do was go out and eat the snow.  Julia saw the snow and said, "I want to go out in the winter."

Grant and Johanna went out for awhile before breakfast while Dad plowed the driveway, and then all of the kids went back out after breakfast.  They had a lot of fun sledding (and eating snow), and Dad and I had a lot of fun watching them from inside the house where it was nice and toasty warm!  It sure is nice to be able to send your kids right out into the front yard to sled!

This was the first year Johanna really enjoyed herself sledding. She didn't even whine when she had to pull the sled back up to the top of the hill. That's serious progess!

There is just one hazard when sledding in our front yard...

The TREES, and, well the LAKE at the bottom!

The kids wanted to go back out in the afternoon, but now the sleds were going a lot faster and we had to make sure someone was riding with Johanna because she was getting a little to "close for comfort" to the lake. That meant Dad got in on some sled races!

I felt like I spent half the day putting on and taking off snow suits, but the kids sure did have fun!
